The committee tasked with investigating the helicopter crash on August 6, 2025, which resulted in the loss of eight lives, including those of senior government officials, has put forth recommendations for immediate safety enhancements and the modernization of the Ghana Air Force fleet to avert future incidents.
During the presentation of the Investigative Committee’s findings on Tuesday, November 11, Captain (Rtd) Paul Forjoe emphasized the necessity for contemporary aircraft that are outfitted with terrain avoidance warning systems, sophisticated navigation systems, voice recorders, and flight data recorders capable of audiovisual recording.
Furthermore, the committee underscored the critical need for ongoing training utilizing certified simulators and engaging aviation specialists, along with the establishment of navigational aids along flight routes, especially in isolated regions.
“There is a clear imperative to modernize the Ghana Air Force fleet. Adopting these safety recommendations will help prevent the occurrence of future accidents. The crash on August 6 was a tragic and abrupt incident related to weather conditions, but investing in advanced technology and training will greatly enhance operational safety,” the committee remarked.
