Hearts of Oak Boss Didi Dramani Not Taking Hohoe United Lightly Ahead of League Opener
Accra Hearts of Oak head coach Mas-ud Didi Dramani says his side is fully focused and won’t underestimate Ghana Premier League newcomers Hohoe United when the two teams face off on Friday, September 12.
The much-anticipated 2025/26 season opener kicks off at 19:00 GMT at the University of Ghana Stadium, with Hearts looking to build on a strong pre-season that saw them lift two trophies—including a convincing victory over rivals Accra Great Olympics to win the Democracy Cup.

The Phobians also went unbeaten in the GHALCA Top 4, showing promising signs under the new-look technical team led by Dramani. But despite the team’s form and momentum, the Hearts boss insists they’re not getting carried away.
“This is going to be a very tough encounter—very uncompromising,” Dramani told Hearts TV. “We need to respect what Hohoe United bring to the table. They play very direct football, and that means we’ll have to be smart about how we use space and stay true to our identity.”

Last season, Hearts of Oak finished fourth in the league before Dramani was brought in to steady the ship and push the team to greater heights. Now, as a new campaign begins, all eyes will be on how his side handles the pressure—and the potential surprise factor—of facing a debutant team hungry to prove themselves on the big stage.
