The Environmental problems in Ghana are multifaceted and therefore demand a multifaceted approach in its combat.
In that regard, the Government will ensure the de-monopolization of waste management in the country.
The Minister for Environment, Science and Technology, Mr Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed, said this during a familiarization tour to the Environmental Protection Authority (EPA) in Accra on Monday.
He stated that the Ministry intended to hold holistic stakeholder engagements in the bid to find lasting solutions to environmental problems facing the country.

“The de-monopolization of waste management is not to target existing waste management companies but rather to ensure that everyone is involved in this fight,” he added.
The Minister urged the EPA to beef up its education and sensitization drive against illegal mining (galamsey) and pollution.
He affirmed the government’s resolve in the fight against Galamsey, stating anyone found culpable would face the full rigors of the law “no matter their social status.”

The Acting CEO of Environmental Protection Authority, Prof Nana Ama Browne Klutse also assured the Minister her commitment and support to succeed in the ministry
