The government has declared that Mankraso Senior High School will undergo a significant upgrade following its remarkable performance in the recently concluded National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ).
Minister of Education, Haruna Iddrisu, stated that this decision demonstrates the government’s dedication to enhancing high-performing schools and bolstering academic competitiveness across the nation.
During a press conference in Accra on Wednesday, November 19, the Minister announced that Mankraso SHS has been included in the list of institutions slated for expansion as part of a comprehensive upgrading initiative.
“We plan to elevate 10 category B schools to A, and 10 category C schools to B, while also expanding certain areas. Furthermore, to many of the schools that may be listening to me, I have included Mankraso Senior High School due to their performance in the National Science and Maths Quiz. It brings me joy to reach out to them, knowing that their country values their efforts,” he remarked.
The upgrade is anticipated to boost the school’s capacity, enhance learning facilities, and position Mankraso SHS as a more formidable contender in national academic competitions, while also facilitating broader access to quality education.
In addition, the Minister revealed that the government will finalize 30 community day senior high schools—commonly referred to as e-blocks—under the budget allocation for 2026.
“We aim, with the $180 million, to complete 30 community-based senior high schools, which are known as e-blocks,” he noted.
He emphasized that these combined efforts are designed to expand equitable access and ensure that more schools are equipped with the necessary facilities to achieve strong academic results.
