President John Dramani Mahama has unveiled a new initiative by the Ghanaian government to provide 1,000 scholarships for tertiary students from the ECOWAS sub-region to pursue their studies in Ghanaian universities.
During the official launch of the ECOWAS 50th Anniversary in Accra on April 4, President Mahama highlighted the significance of regional integration, dialogue, and peaceful coexistence.
He stated that the scholarship program is designed to close socio-cultural divides among the youth in West Africa and foster a sense of unity.
‘We must position our sub-region not only as a political and economic entity but also as a diplomatic cornerstone for the continent, exemplifying integration, dialogue, and peaceful coexistence.
To commemorate this occasion and reinforce regional ties, Ghana is offering 1,000 scholarships to tertiary students from the ECOWAS sub-region to study at our universities.
This initiative is more than a mere gesture; it represents an act of solidarity and serves as a bridge to a future where our youth perceive one another not as strangers but as collaborators,’ he remarked.
