Ghana has entered into a visa waiver agreement with Antigua and Barbuda during the ongoing United Nations General Assembly.
The agreement was formalized by Ghana’s Minister for Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, who expressed appreciation to his counterpart, H.E. E.P. Chet Greene, the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Trade, and Barbuda Affairs of Antigua and Barbuda, for facilitating the arrangement.
According to the minister, this agreement represents the 10th visa waiver accord achieved for Ghanaians since the current Foreign Minister took office.
The Minister stated that the Mahama-led administration is dedicated to enhancing the value of the Ghanaian passport, improving the nation’s international image, and expanding travel opportunities for its citizens.
He further emphasized that such agreements are crucial for promoting trade, tourism, and cultural connections, particularly in this instance by strengthening ties with the Caribbean.
“The Mahama Administration is intentional about increasing the value of the Ghanaian Passport, enhancing our image among nations, and improving the travel experience for Ghanaians as we promote trade, tourism, and in this specific case, connect with our brothers and sisters in the Caribbean,” Ablakwa remarked.
