The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has declared the recommencement of its recruitment exercise for the 2025/2026 period in the Greater Accra Region, starting on Thursday, November 20, 2025.
This exercise was suspended due to a stampede that occurred at the El-Wak Stadium on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, which led to several casualties, including six deaths.
In a press release issued by the Department of Public Relations at Burma Camp on Monday, November 17, 2025, and signed by Captain Veronica Adzo Arhin (Ghana Navy), the Acting Director General of Public Relations, the GAF announced that the screening process will now be conducted at eight sub-centres located in five primary areas within the region.
These locations include: El-Wak Stadium – 2 centres, Nicholson Park, Burma Camp – 2 centres, Air Force Base, Burma Camp, Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC), Teshie – 2 centres, and the Eastern Naval Command, Tema.
The GAF stated that all eligible applicants—organized into groups of 600—will receive SMS notifications that will provide details regarding their reporting dates, batch numbers, and assigned centres.
Applicants are also encouraged to frequently check the recruitment portal for updates and to adhere strictly to the provided instructions.
Those who do not receive a text message by November 20 are advised by the GAF to call 0256405104 or send a WhatsApp message to 0256405154 for assistance.
Verification can also be conducted through the recruitment portal.
The statement further warns that family members and friends will not be permitted at the screening centres to minimise congestion, and non-applicants will be denied entry.
The Ghana Armed Forces has also confirmed that the Board of Inquiry investigating the events leading to last week’s stampede is actively engaged in its work.
To ensure a fair recruitment process, the entire Greater Accra recruitment team has been replaced.
The new officials overseeing the exercise include: Commodore F.A. Nyarko – Director General, Human Resource, Colonel F. Kusi-Darko – Director, Manpower, and Colonel G.B. Eduah – Director, Information Technology.
The individuals affected by the stampede on November 12 will persist in receiving complimentary medical treatment at the 37 Military Hospital until they have fully recovered.
Furthermore, the Armed Forces will offer a unique recruitment package for the injured once they have recuperated, in addition to support for the families of those who tragically lost their lives.
