The children of the eight victims of the helicopter crash that occurred on August 6 have been granted full scholarships.
This announcement was made during a formal ceremony held at the Office of the Chief of Staff, where Julius Debrah accepted the scholarship offer on behalf of the families.
This initiative is a partnership between B5 Plus Group and DPS International School.
As part of the program, two children from each affected family will be awarded full scholarships to attend DPS International School in Tema. This package encompasses the complete cost of education from the basic level up to A-Levels, which includes tuition fees, uniforms, and boarding facilities when necessary.
Chief of Staff Julius Debrah praised the initiative as a significant demonstration of the private sector’s dedication to nation-building and social responsibility.
Marietta Brew Appiah-Oppong, the Presidential Advisor on Legal Affairs and former Attorney-General, also lauded the initiative.
She emphasized the long-term advantages of investing in the education of the children impacted and commended DPS International for its outstanding academic reputation.
She referenced one of the school’s distinguished alumni, Oheneba Kwame Kyeretwie, the son of Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, who is presently studying Astronomy at Wesleyan University in the United States.
According to her, the initiative is expected to be positively received by the President, as it acts as a significant tribute to the lives that were lost.
