Nwurueze appeared before the Adabraka District Court, under the jurisdiction of Her Worship Abena Asoh Owusu-Omenyo, where she pleaded not guilty to the charges. However, the court denied her request for bail, citing concerns that she posed a flight risk based on the evidence presented.
Her attorney, George Asamani, submitted the bail application and asked the court to revoke the bench warrant. He contended that his client had been ill and had no intention of fleeing from justice, assuring the court that she would attend all trial proceedings if released on bail.
In contrast, Chief Inspector Achana opposed the bail request, urging the court to keep the accused in custody. He noted that the case was initially reported to the Airport Police Station in 2021, but efforts to apprehend her had been unsuccessful.
He further explained that the complainant, Dorothy Asare, subsequently sought assistance from the Criminal Investigations Department, which led to Nwurueze’s arrest in March 2024. After her arrest, she was granted police inquiry bail and instructed to report for further investigation, but she chose to go into hiding instead.
Ultimately, the judge ordered her remand. based on the evidence presented.
