A recent tracking poll conducted by Global InfoAnalytics has shown that former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is the leading candidate to represent the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the upcoming 2028 general election.
The poll indicates that 57% of voters favor Dr. Bawumia as the party’s presidential nominee, while former Assin Central MP Kennedy Ohene Agyapong garners 29% support.
Former Minister of Education, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, received 6%, and Minister of Food and Agriculture Dr. Bryan Acheampong achieved 5%, whereas former NPP General Secretary Kwabena Agyapong recorded 3%.
In the pivotal swing regions of Greater Accra, Central, and Western, Dr. Bawumia maintains a significant lead with 57%, followed by Kennedy Agyapong at 32%. Both Dr. Adutwum and Dr. Acheampong each obtained 4%, while Kwabena Agyapong secured 3%.
The survey also suggests that in a potential runoff between Dr. Bawumia and Kennedy Agyapong, Dr. Bawumia would increase his advantage to 62% compared to Agyapong’s 38%.
Among NPP delegates, Dr. Bawumia continues to lead with 47%, while Kennedy Agyapong is behind with 17%. Dr. Acheampong and Dr. Adutwum received 3% and 1% respectively, with Kwabena Agyapong also at 1%.
Nonetheless, 27% of delegates remain undecided, and 4% chose not to reveal their preference.
In a runoff scenario within the delegates’ poll, Dr. Bawumia holds 49%, in contrast to Kennedy Agyapong’s 19%, with 27% undecided and 5% opting not to disclose.
