Speaker of Parliament Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin has demonstrated Ghana’s advancing leadership in the global fight against corruption at the UN’s largest anti-corruption summit in Doha, Qatar.
In his address at CoSP 11 of the UN Convention Against Corruption, he emphasized Ghana’s steadfast dedication to transparency and accountability, which is rooted in robust political leadership, preventive reforms, asset recovery, and resilient institutions, while advocating for enhanced international collaboration.
A significant highlight was Ghana’s involvement in achieving the first-ever UNCAC resolution concerning transparency in political party financing and election campaigns. Collaborating with Norway, Albania, and Mongolia, Ghana spearheaded negotiations that affirmed citizens’ rights to be informed about the funding of political activities.
The conference, conducted under the theme “Shaping Tomorrow’s Integrity,” concluded with the adoption of the Doha Declaration 2025, which strengthens the global commitment to enhance transparency, accountability, and integrity in democratic governance.
