Health Minister, Kwabena Mintah Ak
andoh, has cautioned the public against assaulting nurses and other health professionals, stressing that such acts will not be tolerated.
Speaking at the Ghana Nurses and Midwives Awards ceremony in Tamale on Sunday, September 8, 2025, the Minister condemned recent incidents of abuse against health workers, particularly the case at the Greater Accra Regional Hospital, describing it as unacceptable and a threat to quality healthcare delivery.

“Everybody here is a potential patient, and the same can go to your mothers, fathers, etc. You will also agree with me that the image out there is not the best. So, let me make this point forcefully that irrespective of your status in society or the level of provocation at any health facility, nobody has the right to verbally or physically attack any health practitioner in this country,” Mr. Akandoh declared.
He further emphasised that health professionals dedicate their lives to saving others and must be respected and protected in the line of duty.
The Minister assured nurses and midwives of the government’s continued commitment to improving their welfare and creating a safe environment for them to discharge their responsibilities.
