Former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has urged his fellow NPP members to recognize the challenges that lie ahead for the party and emphasized the necessity for all members to contribute their efforts towards achieving the objective of securing victory in the 2028 election.
During the NPP’s national thanksgiving service held in Accra on Sunday, following his successful win in the party’s presidential primaries, Dr. Bawumia reminded party members that achieving success in the 2028 election will not come easily, but will require hard work and other essential factors that he outlined.
“The journey ahead will require discipline, sacrifice, and hard work,” Dr. Bawumia stated to the assembled party members, which included several aspirants who had contested against him in the election.
“Victory in 2028 will not be handed to us. It must be earned, constituency by constituency, household by household, with humility and purpose,” he further remarked.
The newly elected leader of the NPP indicated that the party would promptly commence efforts to reorganize its policy frameworks and promote its alternative policy proposals to the nation.
“In the process, the reorganization of our party structures will proceed earnestly to equip us with a stronger and more motivated machinery necessary for the 2028 election,” he added.
Dr. Bawumia’s speech predominantly focused on the theme of party unity, urging members to set aside “personal grudges, internal suspicions, and factional divisions.”
“Let us restore trust among ourselves. Let us return to the principles that founded this party: service, competence, respect for institutions, and faith in the Ghanaian people. This marks the beginning of our journey to regain the trust and affection of the Ghanaian populace.”
