A recent national tracking poll by Global InfoAnalytics found that most Ghanaians perceive an improvement in their standard of living over the past year. This reflects optimism associated with the implementation of the 2026 national budget.
The survey, published on Monday, December 29, reports that 56% of participants experienced an improved standard of living compared to the previous year. Meanwhile, 27% reported no change. Only 12% indicated a decline, and 5% had no opinion. Furthermore, 70% of voters expressed optimism that their standard of living would continue to improve in 2026. In contrast, 18% anticipated a negative outlook.
Regarding the 2026 budget introduced by Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Baah Forson, nearly two-thirds of voters (66%) expressed satisfaction, while 18% were dissatisfied, and 16% remained neutral.
The poll also shed light on public perceptions concerning governance. Approximately 56% of respondents believe that corruption in the nation has improved, while 60% feel that the government is adequately addressing the issue. In terms of the battle against illegal mining, commonly referred to as galamsey, 47% stated that the situation has not deteriorated under the Mahama administration, including 43% from mining regions.
These findings suggest that economic initiatives, combined with governance and anti-corruption strategies, are resonating positively with the majority of Ghanaians and enhancing confidence in the nation’s trajectory.
