Police and military forces launched a dawn operation in Dadwen, Ashanti Region, to apprehend those suspected of organizing the November 6 attack on EPA task force members and journalists.
This raid, conducted early on Wednesday morning, November 12, 2025, is part of a broader, ongoing nationwide initiative by the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) and the Ghana Police Service to ensure that those responsible for the November 6 incident are brought to justice. The action fulfills a commitment made by President Mahama in response to the violent event.
William Evans-Nkum from TV3, who was integrated with the security team, reported that the operation included intelligence-driven raids, screenings, and targeted arrests designed to identify and apprehend those directly involved in the assault.
A joint statement released by Captain Veronica Adzo Arhin, the Acting Director General of Public Relations for the Ghana Armed Forces, indicated that the current operations are not only focused on Dadwen but also extend to Anwona in the Ashanti Region, Ehi in the Volta Region, and various towns in the Ahafo Region, such as Hwediem, Kenyase, Guaso, and Marhani.
The statement cautioned that any efforts to hinder the security forces in their anti-illegal mining operations or other lawful responsibilities will be met with the full extent of legal repercussions.
Residents have been reassured of their safety and are encouraged to remain composed.
The Armed Forces and Police have also expressed their gratitude to the media, civil society, and the public for their denunciation of the recent assaults and for their ongoing support in the national campaign against illegal mining.
