Avoid celebrating too early; concentrate on the collection process – NDC to supporters

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has called upon its supporters to maintain composure and refrain from celebrating prematurely until the official results of the 2024 general elections are released.

During a press briefing, NDC Communications Director Sammy Gyamfi highlighted the necessity of remaining alert and composed as the results are being compiled across the nation.

“Should you be listening to this message, on behalf of our leader and father, John Dramani Mahama, who is poised to be the next president of Ghana, please proceed to your constituency collation centre. If you were present at the polling station during the declaration, you should now be following the ballot boxes and other electoral materials to the EC collation centre.

“If you were not at the polling station, regardless of your location within your constituency, now is the time to fulfill your duty. You have cast your vote, and it has been counted and declared at the polling station; it is now your responsibility to safeguard those votes.

“Thus, this new phase of constituency collation is critically important for all of us, and our leader urges everyone to refrain from celebrating until the results are officially compiled and announced at the constituency centres.

“The results forms at the collation centres must be accurately filled out and signed by the respective party collation agents, with each agent receiving their copy. There should be no celebrations at this stage,” he remarked.

He further urged party agents and representatives at the various collation centres to remain vigilant, oversee the proceedings, and promptly report any irregularities to ensure the integrity of the electoral process.

The NDC’s statement comes in the context of growing anticipation as preliminary results begin to emerge from polling stations across the country.

“Celebration should only occur after the results are officially declared by the EC at the collation centre.”
