The NPP has a higher chance of winning the 2024 elections- Professor Smart Sarpong

The Director of Research and Innovation at Kumasi Technical University, Professor Smart Sarpong, has stated that Dr. In the Ashanti Region, Mahamudu Bawumia, the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), is currently in the lead with 75% of the votes.

 This figure does not meet the party’s objective of reaching 85% support in its usual stronghold.

 During an interview, Professor Sarpong mentioned that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate, John Dramani Mahama, has a polling rate of 22.1% in the region.

 As per his statement, Mahama is currently leading in the Greater Accra region with 52.3%, while Bawumia trails behind at 40.5%.

 In the Ashanti Region, Dr Bawumia received 75.9% of the vote, while former president Mahama garnered 22.1%. In the Greater Accra region, former president Mahama is currently leading with 52.3% of the votes, while Vice President Dr Bawumia is trailing behind with 40.5%. Nana Kwame Bediako, also known as “The New Force,” has a 4.4% stake. Alan Kyerematen, the Movement for Change presidential candidate, received 1.3% of the vote, with the remaining 1.5% going to other candidates.

 In a recent poll, Prof Sarpong revealed that Dr Mahamudu Bawumia was in the lead with 49.1%, with John Dramani Mahama following closely behind at 45.8%.

 The poll, taken on November 16, 2024, just four weeks prior to the general elections, revealed that Independent Candidate Nana Kwame Bediako had a 2.2% approval rating. Additionally, Alan Kyerematen of the Movement for Change garnered 1.2% support. Only 1.7% of the votes were received by the other candidates combined.

 On November 21, Prof. Smart Sarpong  announced in a press release. According to Prof. Sarpong, based on the report, the NPP is more likely to win the 2024 elections in the first round compared to the other leading political party.
