Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, the National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), is encouraging Ghanaians to engage in the upcoming elections despite any disappointment they may have experienced with past leaders, specifically those from the New Patriotic Party (NPP). He is advocating against abstaining from the voting process.
While addressing citizens of Akwasease in the Ahafo Ano North Constituency in the Ashanti Region on Tuesday, November 5th, Asiedu Nketiah stressed the importance of participating in elections, stating that not voting can weaken democracy and hinder opportunities for positive transformation.
He urged the community to stay optimistic and emphasized the significance of ensuring leaders are held accountable by actively engaging in the December elections.
I find it confusing when people say they won’t vote because a government didn’t keep its promises. While it is possible that they were unable to keep their promises, this should not dissuade you from participating in the voting process.
Choosing not to vote is not the solution if you wish to hold them accountable. They understand that you played a role in getting them elected to power, so they are aware that you have the potential to vote against them in the future. If you decide not to vote, it works in their favor.
The time has come for us to come together as a unified people and vote them out. He declared their incompetence in governing.
