THE COURT HAS POSTPONED THE RULING ON BERNARD MORNAH’S DISQUALIFICATION TO OCTOBER 21

The ruling on a motion filed by Bernard Mornah, flagbearer of the People’s National Convention (PNC), challenging the Electoral Commission’s (EC) decision to disqualify him from the 2024 presidential election has been adjourned by the High Court in Accra to October 21.

The EC has disqualified a total of 11 candidates, including Mornah, because they did not correct errors on their nomination forms.

Mornah, one of three individuals suing the EC, claims that the commission broke constitutional rules by failing to give him a chance to fix the mistakes.

The EC disputes this assertion, clarifying that although they highlighted certain mistakes, any offenses considered criminal were not conveyed to the candidates.

During the court hearing on Wednesday, Mornah’s legal team contended that the commission had exceeded its discretionary authority.

Harold Atuguba, Mornah’s lawyer, recommended that the commission should halt all electoral activities regarding the presidential election until the court makes a decision.
