President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has set up a five-member ministerial ad hoc committee to assess the government’s continued efforts to prevent unlawful mining, popularly known as “galamsey.”
The committee has been tasked with examining the efficiency of the measures put in place to combat the environmental damage caused by illegal mining throughout the country.
The committee, which includes senior government officials, will evaluate the present tactics and policies targeted at curbing galamsey activities and recommend any necessary adjustments to boost the government’s efforts.
