Former Black Stars captain Asamoah Gyan, has declared his exit from politics, distancing himself from any future affiliations with political parties.
Gyan’s brief involvement in politics began in February 2024, when he attended the campaign kick-off of NPP Presidential Candidate Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
Shortly after, he was appointed chairman of Bawumia’s Youth and Sports Manifesto sub-committee and accompanied the vice president on a campaign walk in Akropong, Eastern Region.
However, in a recent statement, the 38-year-old football legend acknowledged that his entry into partisan politics was not in the best interests of Ghanaian youth.
Gyan acknowledged this and pledged to leave politics entirely.
Looking ahead, Gyan emphasised a renewed commitment to youth empowerment, promising to focus on generating possibilities for young Ghanaians, particularly through sports.
He restated his intention to use his foundation and other available resources to help the country’s youth, ensuring their growth and prosperity outside of politics.
