The flagbearer of the main opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, has advised the youth to spend their bet winnings wisely as he maintain his promise to remove the betting tax and E-Levy if elected in the upcoming December 7 elections.

During his visit of the Bono East Region, Mr. Mahama addressed a crowd of supporters in Nkwabeng, Nkoranza South Constituency, and emphasized his party’s commitment to economic aid.

‘We will remove the betting tax. For those who engage in betting, when you win, the government will no longer take a tax from your winnings,’ Mr. Mahama stated.

However, he sounded a note of caution: ‘If you win, spend your money wisely. Don’t waste it on unnecessary things—use it to improve your life in a meaningful way.’

Mr. Mahama also reaffirmed the NDC’s commitment to eliminating the Electronic Levy (E-Levy), a charge on digital financial transactions that has been extensively condemned since its inception.

He promised that abolishing this levy will provide significant relief to mobile money users countrywide.
