NADMO CAUTIONS PUBLIC AGAINST INDISCRIMINATE WASTE DISPOSAL AS IT CONTRIBUTES TO FLOODING

The National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) has cautioned the public against indiscriminate waste disposal as they contribute to floods in the city.

According to the Ga East Municipal NADMO Director, Seth Kofi Osei Kissi, choked gutters and poor drainage systems in the Ga East Municipality and the country have been major causes of floods.

He advised the people to change their attitudes towards waste management, as waste materials choke the gutters and stifle the free flow of water, which causes flooding during heavy rains in the city.

Mr. Kissi was speaking to vision1 FM on recent floods that hit some parts of Accra following the downpours.

Mr. Seth Kofi Osei Kissi that, though NADMO has put in place proper measures in making flood-related deaths become a thing of the past in Greater Accra, our attitude needs to be checked.
