C/R: Man, 46, killed over dog meat at Assin Praso

The Assin Praso Police Command has arrested 49-year-old Kume Dzina Thomas for allegedly killing one Daniel Akoto also known as Abrantie, 46, following a misunderstanding over dog meat at Assin Atwereboanda in the Central Region.

Narrating the incident to Starr News’ Central Region Correspondent,Yaw Boagyan, the deceased’s brother, Kwame,  said his brother was invited for a dog meat party but he refused to honor the invitation.

He said the suspect got infuriated and then confronted the deceased which resulted in a confrontation which led to the suspect hitting the deceased with a stick.

The assault reportedly got the deceased bleeding profusely through his nostrils and ears and died while being rushed to the hospital by a Unit Committee Member of the area.

A secret burial, according to reports, was held on the same day of the incident without the case being reported to the Police.

The District Police Commander for Assin Praso, DSP Moses Osakonor, confirming the case said the unit Committee Secretary, Swanzy Lumour, and one Gideon Zorve, who happen to be brothers of the deceased have been arrested for masterminding the burial without the knowledge of the police.

He said his team is on manhunt for the Chief and Elders of the Assin Atwereboanda for giving out their land for the burial without due process.

DSP Moses Osakonor added that a court order has been secured for the body to be exhumed for an autopsy and thorough investigation.

Meanwhile, the Chief of Assin Atwereboanda, Nana Ahiator IV, has declined to comment on the incident.
