The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has declared that any incomplete passport applications will be automatically cancelled if they remain unresolved for a period of two months following submission.
As stated by the Ministry, this new policy pertains to applications that are not fully completed due to outstanding requirements, which may include missing supporting documents, incomplete biometric capture, or pending re-capture processes.
In a public announcement made in Accra on 15th May 2026, the Ministry clarified that applicants whose applications are cancelled under these circumstances will need to restart the entire application process, including the payment of applicable fees, as previous payments will not be refunded.
The Ministry has urged applicants to ensure that all requirements are fulfilled promptly to prevent the cancellation of their applications.
Additionally, it has encouraged the public to be aware of this policy and to comply within the specified timeframe to avoid delays and the forfeiture of fees.
For assistance and inquiries, applicants have been instructed to reach out to the 24-hour call centre at 0302 754 200.
The Ministry reiterated its dedication to enhancing passport service delivery and ensuring efficient processing of applications across the nation.
