A newborn infant was saved after being left in a bush at Dichemso-Hafia, located in the Manhyia South Constituency of the Ashanti Region.
On the morning of Sunday, April 26, local residents found the baby and promptly notified the authorities. The infant was then swiftly taken to the Manhyia Government Hospital for immediate medical care.
In a statement to Citi News, Ahenkan Baako, the Assembly Member for the Dichemso Electoral Area, reported that a woman who had gone to the bush for personal reasons discovered the baby.
He mentioned that he quickly informed the police, who arrived at the location and rescued the child.
The Assembly Member revealed that the baby is presently receiving treatment at the Manhyia Government Hospital.
He encouraged pregnant women who are experiencing challenges to seek assistance instead of abandoning their children and urged law enforcement agencies to enhance their efforts to prevent such incidents and hold offenders accountable.
Additionally, he called upon the community and the public to help identify the child’s mother to enable a potential reunion.
The police have initiated an investigation into the matter.
