The General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Justin Frimpong Koduah, has reassured party members that the launch of an online registration platform will prevent political adversaries from infiltrating the party’s register or engaging in its internal elections.
This platform was established to tackle the difficulties encountered by certain Ghanaians who aspire to join the party but are unable to register at their designated polling stations due to time limitations.
During a press briefing on Thursday, March 12, Mr. Frimpong Koduah stated that while the registration system is accessible to everyone, measures will be implemented to guarantee that only verified party members are eligible to vote and run for positions in internal elections.
“I have received inquiries regarding the online registration process, specifically whether it would allow our opponents or individuals who are not NPP members to take advantage of this opportunity to register.
“My straightforward answer to them is that every Ghanaian has the right to register as a member of the New Patriotic Party.
“Even if NDC National Chairman Asiedu Nketiah wishes to register as a member of the NPP because he has come to realize that the government is underperforming and has let down many Ghanaians, he will be permitted to register, just like any other NDC member, as they may have recognized the truth. However, to be eligible to vote and contest, there will certainly be a verification process,” he stated.
He also mentioned that, in light of concerns regarding attempts by certain party executives to manipulate the registration process, physical registration at polling stations will occur on weekends throughout March.
