The Flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mahamudu Bawumia, has called upon party members to extend forgiveness to one another for the misunderstandings and harsh exchanges that transpired during the recent campaign period, highlighting the importance of unity as the party consolidates for the future.
Speaking to party supporters at the National Thanksgiving Service held at the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA) on Sunday, 15 February 2026, Dr. Bawumia urged reconciliation and renewed collaboration within the party.
He recognized that political campaigns can occasionally lead to tension and strong rhetoric, but emphasized that healing and unity must now take precedence.
“On this day as we come together to celebrate and express gratitude, I sincerely ask each of us to forgive one another for some of the unpleasant remarks we may have made during the campaign,” he remarked.
Dr. Bawumia pointed out that positive signs of reconciliation have already started to surface, with numerous party members reaching out to repair strained relationships following the elections.
While acknowledging that the healing process is still in progress, he praised members for taking the initial steps towards rebuilding trust and enhancing party unity.
He stressed that unity will be essential as the NPP reorganizes and prepares for the next stage of its political journey.
