Actress and television presenter Nana Ama McBrown has revealed that she does not plan to marry again.
This announcement follows her public confirmation on TV3’s New Day on Wednesday, 17 December 2025, regarding her divorce. McBrown also emphasized that celebrities who manage to maintain their marriages while working in television and acting deserve recognition.
“I will not marry again. I can have children again, but I will not marry again. I was married for a significant twelve years. We should commend Ghanaian celebrities who are involved in television and acting and are still married.”
McBrown elaborated that she would only contemplate remarrying her former spouse, whom she characterized as kind and respectful. However, she pointed out that marriage entails more than just good conduct.
“If I were to marry again, it would be with him. If I am to remarry someone else, then I will not. My ex-husband, Maxwell, is a wonderful person, but I did not feel fulfilled in the marriage. Maxwell never verbally abused me or physically harmed me during the more than twelve years we were together. He is a gentleman, but marriage encompasses more than that.”
Despite the divorce, McBrown shared that she maintains a close and respectful relationship with her ex-husband, who continues to support her and assist in managing her affairs.
“I will never take my divorce matters to court. I am among the few individuals who are divorced from their husbands yet remain friends with them, and he still manages my affairs. I am also one of the few who still visit my marital home to prepare meals for the family. I am an understanding person. It would be quite challenging to be at odds with a man who has supported me and continues to pay for my child’s education.”
McBrown also urged women to achieve financial independence, stating that while support from a man is advantageous, women should be capable of standing on their own.
“I encourage every woman to work and be self-sufficient without relying on a man. It is beneficial to have a man’s support, but you should be able to stand independently without it.”
