Flagbearer candidate for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Bryan Acheampong, has underscored the dismal performance of the NPP in all Zongo communities during the 2024 general elections.
He stated that the NPP was defeated in all 3000 Zongo communities nationwide, with the exception of the Efutu Zongo Community, which the party narrowly won by a margin of just 6 votes.
He has pledged to revitalize the NPP in these communities if he is chosen as the flagbearer.
“In 3000 Zongo communities in Ghana, we lost in all of them, except for the Efutu Zongo; we suffered a significant defeat in the Asawae Zongo community Mosque,” he remarked on Okay FM on Tuesday, December 16.
Bryan Acheampong further noted that he has conducted an effective campaign to secure the votes of the party’s delegates. Over the course of four and a half months, he claims to have met approximately 90 percent of the delegates, conveying his message to them.
He mentioned that he will begin engaging with the remaining 10 percent starting this Friday.
Dr. Bryan Acheampong expressed that his message of hope and job creation has resonated with the delegates, who are prepared to support him.
In the four and a half months, I have reached 90 percent of the delegates. I will start meeting the remaining 10 percent from this Friday. No one in our history has achieved this; in just four and a half months, I have met 90 percent of the delegates, which amounts to 209,000 delegates in five months,” he stated on Okay FM on Tuesday, December 16.
“The campaign is progressing well, and the messages have been well received,” he added.
The former Minister of Agriculture further asserted that he is a unifier capable of bringing together the members of the NPP to secure victory in the 2028 general elections if elected.
The NPP is set to elect its flagbearer on January 31, 2026, as part of the party’s preparations for the upcoming 2028 general elections.
