The beleaguered Member of Parliament (MP) representing the Kpandai Constituency, Mathew Nyindam, has conveyed a sense of calm optimism as the legal proceedings regarding his annulled election advance towards a critical juncture.
In an interview conducted on Tuesday, December 9, Nyindam expressed his confidence and steadfast faith as the case progresses to the Supreme Court.
“We are currently in the appeal court, and we are awaiting further developments. The Supreme Court has scheduled a hearing for us on December 16. The subsequent steps are in the hands of the lawyers; it is a technical matter. Regardless of the direction they choose, I have faith in God. Everyone has a predetermined path. Wherever my destiny leads me, I accept it,” he stated.
Nyindam’s remarks follow a ruling from the Tamale High Court that invalidated his parliamentary election victory and mandated a rerun in the Kpandai Constituency within a 30-day timeframe. In light of the ruling, Parliament officially informed the Electoral Commission (EC) of a vacancy.
In a correspondence dated December 4, 2025, the Clerk to Parliament, Ebenezer Ahumah Djietror, notified EC Chairperson Jean Mensa that the judgment rendered on November 24, 2025, requires a new election.
The case, identified as Suit Number NR/TL/HC/E13/22/25, listed the Clerk of Parliament as the fourth respondent.
The notification, issued in accordance with Article 112(5) of the 1992 Constitution, formally initiates the electoral procedures necessary for a rerun in the Kpandai Constituency.
