The government has declared that a state funeral will take place for the late former First Lady, Mrs. Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings, on Friday, November 28, 2025, at Independence Square in Accra.
The event, which will be conducted under the auspices of President John Dramani Mahama, aims to honour Mrs. Rawlings for her significant contributions to the rights of women and children, as well as her steadfast commitment to national development.
In a statement released on Thursday, November 6, Minister for Government Communications and Presidential Spokesperson Felix Kwakye Ofosu announced that the state funeral would commemorate Mrs. Rawlings’ lifelong dedication to public service and advocacy for gender equality.
Mrs. Rawlings, who was the founder of the 31st December Women’s Movement and served as First Lady, passed away on October 23, 2025.
The family has extended an invitation to the public to share tributes in her honour.
