The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has advised the newly appointed Ashanti Regional Police Commander, DCOP Arthur Osei Akoto, to avoid involvement in chieftaincy and land-related conflicts within the region.
The Asantehene stated that such issues are outside the jurisdiction of the Police Service and are under his purview as the traditional leader of Asanteman.
He recommended that any chief who approaches the Police Commander regarding land matters should be referred to seek his (the Asantehene’s) assistance.
Otumfuo Osei Tutu II also instructed that if the commander becomes aware of any existing land disputes, he should promptly inform him of suitable action.
Additionally, the Asantehene encouraged DCOP Akoto to enhance efforts in addressing theft and other social issues to ensure peace and security in the Ashanti Region.
He provided this counsel during a courtesy visit from the new Police Commander at the Manhyia Palace on Wednesday, November 5, 2025.
The outgoing Police Commander, Emmanuel Teye-Cudjoe, expressed his appreciation to His Majesty for guiding his service with blessings and direction, before introducing Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) Arthur Osei Akoto as his successor.
Among the delegation accompanying the outgoing regional commander were CP/Mr. Francis Kouame Somian, Deputy Regional Commander; Chief Supt Frederick Hammond, the Manhyia Divisional Commander; and DSP Godwin Ahianyo, Ashanti Regional PRO.
