The Ambassador of the European Union (EU) to Ghana, His Excellency Rune Skinnebach, has committed to enhancing Ghana’s appeal as a destination for European investment throughout his term.
He stated that his main focus would be to strengthen EU-Ghana economic ties by facilitating infrastructure development, promoting sustainability objectives, and aiding in the overall economic stability of the nation.
In an interview conducted on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, Mr. Skinnebach elaborated that the EU’s collaboration with Ghana has evolved from merely advocating values and principles to also fostering mutual economic interests.
“Historically, Europe acted as a corporate partner emphasizing its values and principles. This role has now expanded to include economic interests as well. Fortunately, many of these interests align with those of Ghana. My goal during my four-year tenure is to enhance Ghana’s attractiveness for European investments,” he remarked.
He further mentioned that the EU is actively seeking to draw in funding from private investors, development agencies, and international financial organizations to support Ghana.
“We aim to secure direct investments from the private sector, development institutions, and international financial entities to channel their resources into Ghana, thereby aiding in infrastructure development, promoting sustainability, and contributing to economic stabilization,” Mr. Skinnebach emphasized.
