President John Dramani Mahama asserts that the Free Senior High School (SHS) policy has not only been maintained but has also been significantly enhanced.
During his media engagement in Accra on Wednesday, September 10, President Mahama addressed the widespread misinformation that had been circulating prior to the December 7, 2024, elections.
He emphasized that “Contrary to the widespread misinformation that was circulated before December 7, 2024, the Free SHS has not only been preserved. We have allocated the highest budget in the history of the policy to date,” he stated.
In demonstrating the government’s commitment, President Mahama disclosed that an impressive GHS 3.5 billion has been allocated to the Free SHS program this year, representing an unprecedented investment in Ghana’s educational sector.
Additionally, he announced a substantial increase in funding for Ghana’s healthcare for 2025, underscoring the government’s dedication to fortifying the nation’s health system in light of escalating domestic and global health challenges.
The President revealed that the national health budget has seen a 13.4% increase, rising from GHS 15.6 billion to GHS 17.8 billion.
“This decisive action reflects our commitment to strengthening Ghana’s healthcare system in response to both domestic needs and global health threats,” President Mahama remarked.
