In a September 10, 2025 press release by NIA Corporate Affairs Head Williams Ampomah E. Darlas, the exercise aligns with the NIA statutory mandate for registering all Ghanaians residing and non-residing, as well as issuing every citizen a verifiable and secure national identity.
It is part of a process of consolidating a complete and complete National Identity Register (NIR) to include all Ghanaians from birth.
Registration Requirements and Fees
Premium Centre first-time registration costs GHC 310, in accordance with approved premium fees. The requirements are for persons 15 years and older.
Parents or guardians should bring one of the following:
1. Original Ghanaian Passport of the child

2. Original Birth Certificate of the child

3. One Ghana Card holding parent or guardian capable of authenticating the child
Extension of Online Booking and Registration System
NIA states from effective Monday, September 15, 2025, the online registration and booking system will be extended to all the remaining 11 premium centers across the country, giving convenience in taking appointments.
The customers are invited to use the online booking facility for appointments to ensure a smooth and timely experience at the centres of excellence.
Issue of Cards and Extension of Services
The NIA assured the public that those Ghanaians in the 6 to 14 years age group who have already registered will be given Ghana Cards in due time. The Authority will also, in the next weeks, make a statement on widening this registration services to all NIA district offices throughout the country to facilitate access for the applicants in the country.
