The Electoral Commission (EC) of Ghana has declared a rerun of the parliamentary election in 19 polling stations located within the Ablekuma North Constituency, due to disputes regarding the validity of results from the general election held on December 7, 2024.
In a statement released on July 2, 2025, the Election Management Body (EMB) clarified that this decision was made after thorough consultations and a comprehensive review of the electoral process in the impacted areas.
The EC stated that the rerun is essential because, despite the scanned results from the 19 polling stations being approved by party agents, they were not verified by the corresponding Presiding Officers, as mandated by electoral procedures.
The rerun will take place in 19 out of the 37 polling stations within the constituency, since the other 18 were not involved in the dispute.
