President John Dramani Mahama has appointed Malik Basintale, the Deputy National Communications Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), as the Acting Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Youth Employment Agency (YEA).
This appointment follows the resignation of Kofi Baah Agyepong, the previous CEO, who cited personal commitments and future aspirations as his reasons for stepping down.
Mr. Basintale, a dynamic and prominent figure in Ghanaian politics, is scheduled to officially take office on Monday, January 27, 2025.
Expression of Gratitude to the President
In a sincere message on X (formerly Twitter), Mr. Basintale expressed his gratitude to President Mahama for the opportunity, affirming his dedication to the position. “Thank you, Mr. President, H.E John D. Mahama. We shall not fail you❤️🙏🏽🇬🇭,” he stated.
Kofi Baah Agyepong’s Resignation
Kofi Baah Agyepong, who has held the position of CEO at YEA for the past two years, submitted his resignation in a letter addressed to President Mahama. He characterized his time in office as “an honour and a privilege” and conveyed his appreciation for the chance to contribute to the fight against youth unemployment in Ghana.
His resignation is indicative of a wider trend of leadership transitions within state-owned agencies following the Presidential Election held on December 7 of last year.
