World Bank Vice President for Africa West and Central, Ousmane Diagana, is scheduled to visit Ghana from January 6 to 11, 2025.
During his stay in Ghana, Ousmane Diagana will participate in the inaugural ceremony for the swearing-in of H.E. President-Elect John Dramani Mahama.
Additionally, he will engage in discussions with H.E. President Mahama regarding the vision of the new administration and explore avenues through which the World Bank Group can assist in achieving Ghana’s prosperity and sustainability objectives.
While in Accra, Ousmane Diagana will also tour the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park and Mausoleum, which has undergone renovations supported by the World Bank.
As part of his itinerary, Ousmane Diagana will visit Kumasi to pay a courtesy visit to His Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, discuss the progress of the Kumasi Urban Mobility Accessibility Project (KUMAP) currently in preparation, and inspect the KUMAP site.
The World Bank has maintained a presence in Ghana since 1957, with an active portfolio valued at US$4.84 billion across 25 ongoing projects. This portfolio encompasses various sectors, with the most significant investments allocated to finance and competitiveness (15%), health, nutrition, and population (12%), urban resilience and land (12%), and social protection and jobs (9%).
